MEASURES 12" WIDE X 9+1/2" HIGH.
As lovely as these teeth are, and especially for a
Hammerhead! ... I'm Sorry to say that the Shark's
right hinge is broken! This is actually capture damage.
You can attempt this surgery Yourself, actually if the
jaw is displayed in a case and not handled, It's OK and
not too noticeable. I'm Sorry for this, I find It distressing
when such a Specimen with such fine dentition has
this sort of damage. The price reflects this.

So Named So Because on New Year's Day in 2000,
A Monster 20 foot Great Hammerhead Shark Was Caught!
And In It's Belly Was A Sailor's Arm!
Which Had:
A Great Hammerhead Shark Tattooed On It !
Hammerhead Shark
The hammerhead sharks are easy to distinguish from other sharks because
of the characteristic compressed head. The cephalophoil, or head, is a broad
and flattened skull that gives this shark its distinguished shape. However,
within the hammerhead family there are several species that are differentiated
by subtle differences in the shape of the cephalophoil. The smooth hammerhead is
the only one that appears in Canadian waters and is characterized by a head
that lacks a central indentation, hence the name. This shark is white underneath
turning to brownish gray or a deep olive colour on top. The teeth, which are
similar on both the upper and lower jaw, are triangular and smooth-edged. Adults
of this species can attain lengths up to 3.7 to 4 meters (12 to 13 feet) and
can weigh in excess of 400 kg (880 lb.).
This Species is a coastal pelagic, semi oceanic shark, found close inshore
and well offshore, over the continental shelves, island terraces, and in passes
and lagoons. Prefers to feed on stingrays and other batoids, groupers and sea
catfishes, but also preys on other small bony fishes, crabs, squid, other sharks,
rays, and lobsters. A viviparous species, produces 13-42 of 56 to 70 cm young
a litter. Potentially dangerous to people but only few, if any, of the attacks on
people can be definitely attributed to it because of the apparent difficulty of
distinguishing large hammerhead species involved in attacks.
